Overview

Buccaneer West Coast Charters, in beautiful Chassahowitzka Floirda; is 6 miles south of Homasassa in Citrus County and just an hour drive from Tampa International Airport. The Chassahowitzka River is located in a Wildlife Refuge that hasn't changed in the past 35 years that I have been fishing it. The River is approximately 6 miles long and is only three to five feet of the most crystal clear water you have ever seen. The mouth of the river opens up to a vast area of the Best Florida Flats fishing and Islands made up of Sawgrass, Mangros, and Oyster beds. Chassahowitzka is like a big Aquarium with Redfish, Trout, Cobia, Flounder, Mangro Snapper, Sheephead, Snook, and Tarpon making their home here. Alligators, Crabs, hundreds of types of Birds and Wildlife makes this place like Heaven on earth. It's nice to ease down the river with Manatees relaxing about.
There are several factors that makes Chassahowitzka one of the best fishing areas in the State of Florida. There is very limited access for pleasure boaters and Jetski's. The boat ramps are about 15 miles from each other restricting emergency fill ups for those that would harm the peace and tranquility of the river. This remote place has very few homes on the river and no Condos at all. Yes, the quiet is amazing. All of this contributes to very limited fishing pressure where the fish are not spastic creating some of the most bone jarring hits you will ever experience.
